Innovating for safety and effectiveness
We aim to lead the market in safety and sustainability. Our commitment to innovation prioritizes the development of coatings free from materials of concern that meet or exceed all regulation. They must deliver the same performance standards of previous coatings which have been relied upon for decades. They must withstand the harsh processing needs of the food and beverage industry, including retort, pasteurization and can mobility through can and filling lines. Our next generation coatings must also meet the more recent challenges that come with new product types, particularly in the beverage market.

Global development teams
Our product development teams are focused on breakthrough innovation in market segments globally. We have more than 40 laboratories worldwide with specialist packaging teams in Huron (USA), Garcia (Mexico) Birmingham (UK), Songjiang (China) and Villafranca (Spain).
Our packaging coatings research team has access to a total network of 4,000 R&D colleagues in the wider AkzoNobel organization to support the most advanced programs.
We also have regional solutions teams focused on specific areas of product development and providing support to local customers. These teams are key to the flexibility and success of our customer partnerships.

Ease of adoption
All of our new generation coatings have been designed to seamlessly integrate into existing production processes, enabling can makers to transition to coatings free from materials of concern, while maintaining their commercial viability.
