Safety through and through
Safety not only coats everything we do, it runs all the way through it. In the food and beverage industry, reputations are hard won and easily lost.
Product recalls, for whatever reason, can be hugely expensive and are invariably deeply damaging. It can take years for a business to recover.

Thinking ahead
We want to lead our industry away from materials of concern and regrettable substitutions that can cause their own issues, replacing them with new technologies and solutions that will stand up to scrutiny for years to come.
That’s why we’re continually evaluating the scientific landscape for new developments in toxicology and materials science.
We’re also keeping a close eye on the regulators. If they’re planning new rules, we want to ensure our customers are already ahead of the curve and won’t be disrupted.

Safety built-in
Typically, it can take us between five and ten years of research and two years of development to create a new product. We have safety checks at every stage of development. And that’s not all. We then have a further year of safety testing to turn our innovation into a proven, safe solution.
We research and analyze new materials and chemistries, comparing them against known safety data. We invite independent third parties and regulators to run scientific analysis and toxicity reviews. And we submit everything for regulatory body approval and third-party certification.

Fit for the real world
Of course, what works in the laboratory may not work in a real-world environment, and this is where our customers and suppliers play a vital role; they help us understand how our materials will behave when put to work. We also look at how will they be manufactured? How stable are they? What’s their shelf-life?
By answering these questions and many more, we’re shaping change to deliver safer and more effective packaging coatings solutions for the food and beverage industry.
