Range Overview
Accelstyle™ is our range of external coatings for can bodies and ends. These coatings can withstand the harsh processing needs of the beverage industry, as well as provide brands with the shelf presence required to stand out in a competitive marketplace.
Our solutions have high abrasion resistance for conventional 2-piece aluminum beer and beverage cans and can be seamlessly introduced into existing production processes. This allows can makers to transition to coatings that are free from materials of concern and remain as commercially viable as possible.
We have a wide range of products including matt and gloss overprint varnishes that can be combined with our UV and thermal cured ink ranges as well as external coatings for beverage ends.

Product Details
Accelstyle™ 100
A water-based gloss overprint varnish for can bodies which matches the performance of AkzoNobel’s standard polyester OPV with excellent can line mobility and pasteurization performance, as well as resistance to necker tooling line pick up.
Accelstyle™ 100, which is BPAni, styrene-free and PFAS-free, is qualified by major European can makers.

Accelstyle™ 200
Accelstyle™ 200 is our water-based intense matt overprint varnish with no intentionally added BPA, styrene or PFAS. Not only is Accelstyle™ 200 future proof against regulatory changes, but it also enables the brand owner to visually differentiate their product while still delivering high levels of performance. Accelstyle™ 200 offers best-in-class coating mobility comparable to conventional gloss OPVs, with improved abrasion and necker performance, as well as pasteurization performance.
AkzoNobel has worked with can makers to optimize the matt prototypes for different gloss levels from soft touch matt to an intense matt (within a range of 10 to 55 units at 60-degree gloss), and its productivity is in line with conventional gloss OPV at both can plant and brewery.

Accelstyle™ 700
Accelstyle™ 700 is a solventborne external coating available in both clear and colors for beverage ends, which is BPXni, PFASni, styrene-free and melamine-free.
