Securstyle™ is our new generation BPAni external coatings range which protects the outside of the can from aggressive retorts, whilst retaining the attractive appearance of the finished can.
Range Overview
With Securstyle™ coatings, AkzoNobel Packaging Coatings is providing a route to minimize or eliminate the use of materials of concern such as bisphenols and PFAS in metal packaging, while maintaining the high standards of our Vitalac™ coatings. This makes our coatings ideal for early adopters who want to get ahead of any regulatory changes that might be on the horizon.
Thanks to its optimal flexibility, the Securstyle™ range is a universal solution that is not only suitable for use on 2- and 3-piece food cans, easy open ends and standard ends but also offers solutions for caps and closures and general line cans and tubes.
Securstyle™ has excellent retort resistance even with alkaline conditions. The range also maintains the high production efficiency and excellent flexibility and mechanical performance for which our coatings are renowned.
The range is available in clear, gold, and dark gold but we also work with our clients to create custom colors. Our overprint varnishes are suitable for printing with our UV cured and thermal cured inks.

Product Details
Securstyle™ 210 & 215
Securstyle™ 210 and Securstyle™ 215 are new external coatings for 2- and 3-piece food cans, easy open end and standard can ends. These direct-to-metal coatings are non-bisphenol and PFASni. Securstyle™ 210 is clear, while Securstyle™ 215 is gold and custom gold shades are available upon request. Can makers benefit from the reduced VOC emissions supporting their sustainability goals. These coatings also provide excellent line performance thanks to their optimal flexibility, and high levels of retort resistance even in demanding conditions.

Securshield™ 132
Securstyle™ 132 is a white multi-purpose external basecoat for 2- and 3-piece food and general line cans, easy open ends and standard can ends, as well as closures. It is non-bisphenol and PFASni. The coating’s high solid content results in reduced VOC emissions and offers excellent line performance thanks to its optimal flexibility, and retort resistance even with alkaline conditions. This white basecoat can be combined with a clear overprint varnish such as Securstyle™ 151 together with our UV cured and thermal cured ink ranges to create the optimal can design.

Securshield™ 133
Securstyle™ 133 is an external white basecoat for 2-piece cans, easy open and standard ends, and twist off closures. It is free from materials of concern (BPXni & PFASni) and allows for a smooth conversion from epoxy coatings. The coating provides excellent line performance thanks to its flexibility and mechanical performance making it ideal even for more challenging can types such as club cans. This white basecoat can be combined with a clear overprint varnish such as Securstyle™ 150 or 151 together with our thermal cured ink ranges to create the optimal can design.

Securshield™ 144
Securstyle™144 is external universal sizecoat, available in gold or clear. It is multipurpose and suitable for 2-piece round cans, 3-piece cans, easy open ends, twist-off, ROPP and crown closures, and general line cans. It is free from materials of concern (BPXni and PFASni) and has good mechanical performance for a smooth conversion from epoxy coatings.
This sizecoat can be combined with a clear overprint varnish such as Securstyle™ 153 together with a 6-color printing using our UV and thermal cured ink ranges to create the optimal can design.

Securshield™ 151
Securstyle™ 151 is an external BPXni and PFASni overprint varnish available in clear or gold. The protective lacquer can be used direct-to-metal or as a system in combination with our Securstyle™ basecoats to protect 2-piece aluminum cans and easy open can ends. Our UV and thermal cured inks allow can makers to create the optimal can design. It has good abrasion and scratch resistance during production and transportation.
